Police in Texas are searching for a suspect who is wanted in connection to a child abuse case.

Deputies were dispatched Friday to Christus Health off Stone Oak Parkway where they met with 21-year-old Jeida Rogers. She’s believed to be the mother of the abused child.

Sheriff Salazar said Rogers gave limited information in the case and that she was protecting her boyfriend, 25-year-old Corey Berry.

The 5-month-old child is allegedly suffering from fractured ribs, one fractured wrist, spine fractures and mouth injuries. The child also tested positive for THC.

In the days leading up to Friday, Rogers said the child has been left in the care of Berry several times. Rogers believes Berry is the one who is injuring the child.

Authorities are searching for Berry who is on the run in this case. Rogers is already in custody on a charge of Injury to Child with Serious Bodily Injury.
