Mineral County voters have approved a sales tax on both recreational marijuana and medical marijuana.

Recreational marijuana use was legalized in Montana in 2021 for adults over the age of 21. Counties can tax the sale of both medical and recreational marijuana up to 3%. The state taxes medical marijuana at 4%, and recreational marijuana at 20% already.

Preliminary results show voters approved the taxation of medical marijuana 54% to 46%.

They approved the taxation of recreational marijuana with 72% voting in favor.

Election results have not yet been canvassed.
