Alan Dershowitz says Trump indictment 'may be one of the weakest cases'
WASHINGTON (TND) — Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg brought criminal charges against former President Donald Trump in a 6-year-old case the federal government refused to take up.
This is the first time a former or current president has faced an indictment for legal analysis.
Former Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz joined The National Desk’s Jan Jeffcoat to discuss the story.
“We know that the grand jury vote was almost certainly leaked not by Trump. It came to him by great surprise,” he said. “It was almost certainly either by somebody in Bragg's office or somebody connected to the grand jury. That's a serious Class E felony in New York. “
The grand jury voted to indict the former president in connection to alleged hush money payments to adult film actress Stormy Daniels.
Dershowitz says, “this is targeting and weaponizing not the American way of justice. A very sad day for justice. Look, we haven't seen the indictment. We can't be sure maybe they have a videotape of him shooting somebody on Fifth Avenue. But based on what we know about this case, it may be one of the weakest cases in my six years of experience.”
