To celebrate Amen Brother‘s move to a new monthly slot at 12 Sundays, we ‘ve planned a full day of free February funk for the Shaw.
To kick off the party, there will be screening Wattstax, a documentary film by Mel Stuart that focused on the 1972 Wattstax music festival and the African American community of Watts in Los Angeles, California. Organised to commemorate the seventh anniversary of the Watts riots, Wattstax was seen by some as “the Afro-American answer to Woodstock”. Lots of live performance, footage and interviews so should be a fun show. You may even get some free grub if you’re good!!
All pints will be e3 for 12 Sundays members too so if you aren’t a member, follow the link below.
After the screening, Pete Cadden and Sean Gilheaney will play their favourites in funk, blues, northern soul and breaks until kicking out time.
The event will also be streamed live via ustream.tv so remember to wear your frilly shirt with the big collar!
Stay tuned to this page until then as we will have more additions to February’s free funk off .
Groups can now book an area (inside & out)
