An investigation is underway after an 8-year-old was hit by a stray bullet Saturday in Ohio.

Police responded to the Farwick Fields sports complex at Little Fenway Park in Miamitown around 4:40 p.m.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office said the child was hit by a stray bullet from a privately-owned "makeshift firing range" nearby. Officials did not specify where the bullet struck or serious the injury is, but say the child is expected to recover.
